Destination Weddings
A wedding away,
with the people worth bringing.
Paris in the rain, a black-sand beach in Iceland, a cliff walk in Ireland, a sea arch at Big Sur. The place is half the story, and I get on the plane gladly.
Destination couples tend to have a small guest list and a long weekend: the friends who flew in are staying three days, and the wedding is one of them. So I photograph the whole thing, not just the ceremony. The dinner the night before, the walk to the venue, the morning after.
I arrive a day early to scout, I time the day to the light, and I work quietly: available light before added light, documentary first, a little direction when it helps. US travel is included in collections photographed by me; international trips are quoted per destination.
